Dr Ian Bishop grew up in Prince Edward County where his father, Rick Bishop, operated Windstead Equestrian Centre - a training and coaching facility catering to A-Circuit jumpers.
He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009. After practicing in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, and exploring a variety of types of practice, Dr Bishop found a niche in Equine Dentistry.
In 2023, Dr. Bishop was the second veterinarian in Canada to become a Board Certified Equine Dentist with the American Veterinary Dental College.
Rick Bishop graduated with a Dip. Humber College Equine Studies and Dip. of Farrier Science. Through the National Coaching and Certification Program, he has qualified as a Competition Coach Specialist Hunter/Jumper and trained High Performance Coach. Rick Bishop also recently achieved a certificate in Bits and Bitting Science which he completed with Distinction.
Rick has been a professional rider, trainer and coach for over 35 years. He lends his expertise to Northern Equine VS and helps to ensure the safe handling and care of our patients.
He currently lives in Belleville, ON area and splits his time between Northern Equine and his own coaching and training business.
