In 2025 Dr Bishop transitioned to offering dental-maxillofacial surgeries and endodontic services at hosting clinics across Ontario, rather than on-farm. This has allowed us to provide services more safely, effectively and sustainably.
However it left a gap in patient care that can be safely and effectively provided in the horse’s stall but which not all equine veterinarians are comfortable with or equipped to provide. Care such as balancing complicated malocclusions, treating periodontal disease with diastema widenings and occlusal relief cuts, and sometimes dental radiography and upper airway evaluations. To help with this, we are offering to see complex cases for care like this on-farm. In order to make this feasible, we plan trips to certain regions several weeks in advance and post them here for any who may wish to refer complex cases.
For referrals, please email us to office@northernequine.ca with the information below;
Name and contact number of referring DVM and Veterinary Clinic if applicable
Client name, phone number and email address
Patient name, birth year, sex, breed and location (town is sufficient)
Patient is referred for..
Relevant patient history
Please attach any radiographs, pictures or records available that would be beneficial for Dr Bishop to review
Procedures which require the horse to stand especially still for an extended period of time, such as dental extractions, sinus surgeries, and endodontics, will still be seen at hosting veterinary practices with stocks.
